About

Built by one household that was tired of the question.

FamilyPlate is made by David, an independent iOS and backend developer. It exists because his household asked each other "what's for dinner?" every evening — and the question got worse, not better, when their baby arrived.

The short story

Recipe apps didn't fix it. They added decisions — thousands of new dishes to scroll — when the problem was making one decision, once, together. What worked was embarrassingly simple: plan the meals the household already cooks, once, together. The only missing piece was a tool where both people could see and edit the same plan without a handoff text.

So David built it. One shared meal library, one weekly plan, a shopping list that writes itself — synced across the household, so when one person swaps Tuesday, the other's phone knows. That tool became FamilyPlate, and it went on the App Store in 2026 so other households could stop having the same conversation.

What FamilyPlate is not

It is not a recipe app. FamilyPlate doesn't push new dishes at you or assume you want to become a different cook. It plans the meals you already make — because for most households, dinner isn't a discovery problem, it's a decision problem.
