How can we help?
Find quick answers below, or send us a message — we read every one.
What is FamilyPlate?
FamilyPlate is a shared meal planner for iPhone. Everyone in your household shares one meal library and one weekly dinner plan, and the app builds a shopping list from the week. It is made for couples and families who want to decide dinner once, together — not a recipe app.
Is FamilyPlate free?
Yes. FamilyPlate is free to download and includes a 7-day free Pro trial. Pro is an optional subscription that unlocks AI features like meal suggestions, weekly planning help, calorie estimates, drink pairings, recipe lookups, and insights. The core meal library, weekly plan, and shopping list are free.
How much does FamilyPlate cost?
FamilyPlate is free to download and use. FamilyPlate Pro costs $4.99 per month or $39.99 per year (USD) after a 7-day free trial. Pro adds AI features — meal suggestions, week generation, calorie estimates, drink pairings, recipe lookup, insights — plus Siri shortcuts.
Does everyone in my household need their own Pro subscription?
No. Pro is per-household: when one member subscribes, every member gets Pro features. The 7-day free trial, though, is per person.
How do I cancel FamilyPlate Pro?
Pro is billed by Apple, so you cancel in your iPhone settings: open Settings, tap your name, tap Subscriptions, then FamilyPlate. Cancelling keeps Pro active until the end of the period you already paid for.
Do I need to create a password?
No. FamilyPlate uses Sign in with Apple, so there is no separate password to create or remember. We never store your email address.
How many people can join a household?
A household can have any number of members, and everyone has equal permissions: anyone can add meals, edit the weekly plan, invite others, or leave. You belong to exactly one household at a time.
How do invites work?
An existing member generates a 6-character invite code. It is single-use and expires after 7 days. The person you invite enters the code to join your shared library and plan.
Can I use FamilyPlate on my own?
Yes. A household of one works fine — you get the same meal library, weekly plan, and shopping list. If you invite someone later, they will see everything you have already set up.
Which devices does FamilyPlate support?
FamilyPlate is an iPhone app and requires iOS 17.0 or later. There is currently no iPad, Android, or web version.
Is my data private?
Yes. FamilyPlate contains no ads, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party trackers, and we never sell your data. Your meals, plans, and photos are shared only with the members of your household.
How do I delete my account?
Open the app and go to Settings, then Danger Zone, then Delete account. This removes your profile, devices, and household membership. If you are the last member of your household, its meals, plans, and photos are permanently deleted.
